Annie and her crew Annie and her crew of orphans are set to take the stage next week. From left are Julia Lonkart of Northfield, Lada Doukhnai of Mays Landing, Melody Pugliese of Egg Harbor Township, Logan and Ari Kauffman of Northfield, Olivia Becker of Linwood, Brianna Giovanelli of Northfield, Olivia McGee of Northfield and Megan Castellane of Northfield. LINWOOD– “Tomorrow” will ring out when the curtain goes up at Mainland Regional High School when the For Kids by Kids Production of “Annie Jr.” opens Thursday, July 31 and runs through the weekend.

“Annie Jr.” is full theatrical production adapted into a manageable version for the young performers who range in age from 6 through 16. Deborah Glenn, the producer and director of the show, said she chose “Annie Jr.” because the kids love the show and it fit perfectly with the talent of the kids.

Most of the major roles were double cast in order to accommodate the 60 performers who came out for the show.

Natalie Viso, 16, of Margate is Miss Hannigan in the show. A veteran of 14 productions, Viso said she really likes the character.

“This is so outside of how I am normally cast; I am always the pretty, bubbly character, but this lets me explore the other side,” said the OCHS junior. She just finished Sunday, July 20 with “The Wedding Singer.”

Matt Lischin, who is headed to the eighth grade at the Northfield Community School, said Annie is the third show he is working on this summer. In addition to “The Wedding Singer,” he is also cast in “The Sound of Music.”

Lischin, who plays Rooster in Annie, is surrounded by some interesting women and said the character is a lot of fun to play.

Tori Pierce, 15, of Northfield, who plays Lilly in Annie, is headed into her sophomore year at Mainland Regional High School and is a veteran of 12 stage productions.

The lead role of Annie is double cast with Julia Wilson of Egg Harbor Township taking the stage as Annie in two performances, and Logan Kauffman of Northfield as Annie twice as well.

The dancers were kicking up their heels Monday at Ensemble Arts in Egg Harbor Township where “Annie Jr.” has been rehearsing for weeks. Elizabeth Gallagher of Egg Harbor Township is the choreographer for “Annie Jr.” and Rachel Ginsberg of Mays Landing is the production manager along with Glenn who holds down the job of producer and director.

Tickets for “Annie Jr.” at Mainland Regional High School are $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Performances are Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 and 7 p.m.

The classic tale of kids persevering and never giving up is a family friendly show. Tickets are available at the door.
