Many to thank for storm assistance

To the editor:

The much-anticipated and long-awaited removal of the limbs, branches and yard debris from the June 30 storm took place on our street this past week. The street was swept clean and there is barely any sign that the huge piles had existed.  A welcome sight.

My thanks to the men who did a wonderful job. I would also like to take this opportunity to offer my appreciation and thanks to the policemen and firemen who came to my home, a couple nights after the storm, to help with my security alarm that I could not shut off.  Although I did not have electricity, the alarm was still going off. In the darkness and heat,   the policemen were prompt in arriving, courteous and efficient.

Because one of the alarms going off was near the ceiling in my garage, the police had to call the fire department for assistance. Again, the firemen were cooperative and took care of the situation of having to cut and wrap the wires.

I appreciate the professionalism and congeniality of both departments in what was a stressful situation.
