OCEAN CITY — With the exception of the week she and her husband, George, spent cleaning up and repairing her West Avenue hair salon after Hurricane Sandy dumped nearly a foot of water inside Cerruti’s, Pam Rumer said she has never had a bad day at work.

Gallery of shops looking forward to a successful summer

Stainton's: A Gallery of Shops reopens just weeks after Hurricane Sandy flooded the building with two feet of water.

OCEAN CITY — Creating a cooperative shopping gallery out of a former department store was not an easy task, but Stainton’s, at 810 Asbury Ave., did it. After opening in May 2012, Stainton’s: A Gallery of Shops, boasting over 60 individual boutiques, was looking forward to a successful Christmas season. Then Hurricane Sandy rained on their parade.

OCEAN CITY — After being under water during Hurricane Sandy, Arlene’s on Asbury is back in business and owners Paul and Arlene Stryker couldn’t be happier with their newly remodeled restaurant.

“We came back better. We made a lot of improvements,” said Paul Stryker, the head chef who owns the restaurant with his wife, Arlene.

Monique DeLozier Bottatlico thought she hit bottom in the long recovery process when the flooded out, gutted space at 803 East Eighth St., which once housed a thriving spa and wellness center, seemed like it might never return.
