Ocean City businesses receive post-Sandy grants

Five Ocean City businesses have been awarded Stronger NJ Business Grants to support their recovery from Hurricane Sandy, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority announced Thursday, Nov. 14.

Pelican Pete’s Island Car Wash, Neal’s A&D Tire Service, Christina’s Butterfly Boutique, Making Waves, and Serendipity Bed and Breakfast all received grants from the Stronger NJ Business Grant program, which offers grants of up to $50,000 per impacted location to New Jersey businesses damaged by the storm. To date, 132 businesses have been approved for grants totaling over $6.6 million.

OCEAN CITY – For Frank and Peggy Ann Osborne, both 71, their five children and 15 grandchildren, Osborne’s Inn is all about creating memories.

OCEAN CITY — Fresh out of college and looking for a summer job, Sam Koperwas and Jeff Sherman arrived in Ocean City with empty pockets and big dreams in 1972.

On a lark, the Brooklyn, NY natives opened a jewelry store in a small space in the 1300 block of the Ocean City Boardwalk. Forty-one years later, Henry’s was named one of the top 50 design jewelers in the country by the JCK Design Center, publishers of JCK, a national trade magazine.

OCEAN CITY — When Skip Tolomeo and his late wife, Trish, opened Sea Oats, a children’s clothing and accessory shop, more than three decades ago, the economic climate of the city’s downtown was vastly different.

Prudential Fox and Roach will change to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox and Roach on Nov. 12. Across the Delaware Valley, building signs and yard signs will change from blue to cabernet and to celebrate, many offices are hosting grand opening events.
