OCEAN CITY — Rolling into the last quarter of 2013, Kevin Redmond hoped that the slow-to-get-started, post-Hurricane Sandy real estate market would end up about even with where the city was in 2012. Down about 10 percent at the end of December, the past president of the Ocean City Board of Realtors said the fall market fell flat.

OCEAN CITY — For more than 50 years, Carlo Melini has been in the beauty business, the past 33 with his own salon, C Melini.       

“I don’t know where the years went,” said Melini, who, at 70, still enjoys going to work every day. “I started the value-priced, quality hair care, no-appointment-necessary concept in Ocean City in 1981.”

OCEAN CITY — After working in Somers Point for several years, Mark Crego came back to Ocean City, where he started, designing and crafting signs in 1980, only to be flooded out six months later by Hurricane Sandy.
