Open mike night
Ocean City Repertory Theater, 813 Asbury Ave., presents an open mike night 7-9 p.m. every Thursday. Come to perform or just listen, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or refreshments. A sign-up sheet is at the door and performers are scheduled on a first-come, first-play basis. Admission is $5. This event is sponsored by the 7th Street Surf Shop. Call 457-6686.
Adult book club
There will be an adult book club for the winter and spring 9:30-11 a.m. every first Saturday of the month at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue. Valentine’s Day cards
Get ready for Valentine’s Day by making a card for someone special, or make an anti-Valentine’s Day card, 3 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Ocean City Library, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue, in room N111. For more information call 399-2434, ext. 5235.
Blood drive
Ocean City will host the American Red Cross Blood Drive 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Ocean City Civic Center, Sixth Street and Boardwalk. Ocean City and the American Red Cross invite all residents, groups and businesses to donate. To be eligible to donate blood through the American Red Cross, individuals must be at least 17 years old and in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated in the last 56 days. The American Red Cross is especially in need of Type O blood donors. Appointments for the regular blood drive are preferred, but not required. To make an appointment, contact city offices at 525-9365 or sign up at City Hall 8:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Sign ups will also be taken online at www.redcrossblood.org; enter sponsor code 0221272.
Book Surfers book club
The Book Surfers book club for fourth and fifth graders meets 2:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 9 and March 15 at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue. Members get a free copy of each book and snacks. Call 399-2434, ext. 5241.
Meet the artist
The Ocean City Fine Arts League February competition and exhibition is The Blues. There will be a meet the artist reception and awards presentation 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public and runs through the end of February. The gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m Friday, Saturday and Monday and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 814-0308 or see oceancityfineartsleague.org.
Flower Show trip
The Ocean City Garden Club is sponsoring a bus trip to the Philadelphia International Flower Show on Wednesday, March 7 at a cost of $45. The bus will depart the 10th Street bus station at 1 p.m. sharp. The bus will leave the Flower Show for Ocean City at 7 p.m. sharp. The theme this year is Hawaii. Walter Off of Waldor Orchids in Somers Point is the main exhibitor. Contact Kathy at 391-0265 for additional information. Deadline for ordering group advance-sale tickets is Feb. 11.
Children’s tea
The Ocean City Historical Museum presents its annual Children’s Tea 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 17th Street and Simpson Ave. Children ages 5-9 are invited to a traditional Victorian tea that will include a craft project, demonstration of antique toys, and how to serve a formal tea including sandwiches and dessert. Admission is $3 per person, there should be one adult per three children. Reservations and full payment are required in advance. Call 399-1801 or see www.ocnjmuseum.org. Wings n’ beverage
Ocean City Crew Booster’s Wings n’ Beverage fundraiser is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at DiOrio’s in Somers Point. Tickets are just $25. There will be prizes. ‘Valentine’s Day’
There will be a showing of “Valentine’s Day,” rated PG-13, 3 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Ocean City Library, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue, in lecture room N110. For more information call 399-2434, ext. 5235.
Young adult games

AARP meeting
AARP Chapter 1062 of Ocean City will meet at noon Feb. 17. After a brief social time, the meeting will commence at 12:30 p.m. with speaker Winnie Pitano speaking on “Aging with Attitdue.” The meeting will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 30th Street and Bay Avenue, Ocean City.
Pizza and a movie
The Italian Cultural Institute of South Jersey will meet 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at St. Frances Culliney Hall, Second Street and Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City. The program, pizza and a movie, will feature Johnny Stecchino. All are welcome. Call Marie Condo at 748-0619.
