CONTACT triathlon/duathlon fundraiser

The sixth annual CONTACT Cape-Atlantic Triathlon/Duathlon will be through Feb. 20 and includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a 2-mile run. The registration donation is $25 and the event is co-sponsored by the Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center. Competitors can substitute gym events for the swimming, biking and running events. Everyone who enters receives a T-shirt, and everyone who finishes will receive an award. A list of finishers will be posted and an awards ceremony will take place Feb. 25 at the Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1735 Simpson Ave. Registration forms are required and are available at the Ocean City Aquatic Center, by calling CONTACT at 463-4564 or 823-1850, by e-mailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. OCIS fishing sale and flea market

The sixth annual Ocean City Intermediate School fishing sale and flea market will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 3, rain or shine, at the Ocean City Intermediate School gymnasium, 1801 Bay Ave. Free parking, refreshments, door prizes. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 6-10. All proceeds go directly to the Intermediate School fishing club.

 

Tabernacle trip
The Ocean City Tabernacle will sponsor a bus trip on March 22 to Lancaster, Pa. to see the new production by Sight and Sound, “The Story of Jonah.” This show uses live animals, a mechanical whale and a cast of over 100 to portray the biblical story.

Craft show

There will be a Holiday Celebration of Fine Crafts presented by the Jersey Shore Artisans Guild 10 a.m-5 p.m. March 31 and April 1 at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Parking is free. A contribution of $3 supports area charities. No charge for children under 12.

 

Jazz band concert

The Ocean City High School Instrumental Department will have their annual Jazz Band Concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29 at the William and Mary Hughes Performing Arts Center, 501 Atlantic Ave., Ocean City. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Entertainment will be provided by the instrumental groups of OCHS, including jazz band, jazz rock, and The Upper Township Middle School jazz band. Tickets will be sold at the door.

 

Scavenger hunt

The Ocean City Boys Lacrosse Booster Club is hosting a scavenger hunt 6-8 p.m. and after party 8-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at L's Restaurant. The cost is $35 per person. Lucky Guess game show

The Ocean City Free Public Library is honoring President’s Day by presenting Lucky Guess Game Show 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in room N110 of the library, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue. Lucky Guess is a “horse race” with three contestants standing on a track. They have to answer multiple choice questions, and the audience is encouraged to participate. It is 8 furlongs in length and the winner of three games goes to the winners circle. That person must then answer three questions correctly before they can become the champion. Audience members should come dressed as a president for a better chance of being chosen as a contestant. The show is presented by Ron MacCloskey. Admission is free. See www.oceancitylibrary.org.

 

Doo Dah weekend

For the 11th consecutive year, the Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue League will hold its Boardwalk Waddle as part of the Doo Dah Parade set for Saturday, April 14. On Friday, April 13, the Rescue League will stage its Basset Hound Olympics at 1 p.m. on the Tabernacle Grounds, Sixth Street and Asbury Avenue. The event is free. The Doo Dah weekend is a major fund raiser for the Rescue League. The bassets and their best friends meet following the parade at Carey Stadium to socialize, enjoy refreshments, and check out tents that feature products for basset hounds and all types of pooches. These products are for sale. The public is invited to this gathering to get close up and personal with the doggies and their friends, snap photos and discover products for their own pets.
