OCEAN CITY — Three years in the making, The Ocean City Zombie House will be open its doors on the Ocean City Boardwalk Friday, June 8.
The Ocean City Zombie House is an attraction featuring live actors, animatronics, Hollywood-quality sets, CGI animations and over-the-top-special effects. Guests will enter the Zombie House outfitted with a custom designed gun from the “rogue, self-proclaimed zombie killing expert, who has been holed up inside the house for who knows how long.” They will quickly learn that the house is completely surrounded by zombies and they will need to shoot their way out to survive.
At the end of the attraction, each guest will be given their “zombie kill count,” which is calculated by the Zombie House’s computer control system, so guests will know whether they rank as a “zombie sniper” or are just “zombie bait.” The guests become part of the attraction.
This new attraction is geared towards everyone, said Mike Kroll, Zombie House co-owners from Egg Harbor Township. The Ocean City Zombie House’s computer system allows each show to be calibrated to each specific group of guests, he said.
“This means a family with kids will get a more mild show that is just terrifying enough to keep it fun and a little on the scary side, while a group of teens or young adults will get an extremely intense show that is relentless in its attempt to illicit screams from the thrill seeking crowd,” Kroll said.
The Ocean City Zombie House opens 6 p.m. Friday at 10th Street and Boardwalk. Initial special ticket pricing will be $10 person, $16 a person for a replay ticket, which allows you to play twice, or $20 per person for a three-play ticket, which will allow you to play three times. Hours will vary, but will typically be 5-11 p.m. everyday through Labor Day weekend.
