A meet the artist reception will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 13.
Barnett, a fourth generation artist and craftsperson, paints in all mediums. In addition, she creates repurposed art using “junk” found around the area. She is also known for her award-winning wearable art in copper, brass and sterling.
Barnett was raised in Woodstock, N.Y. surrounded by the arts and many fine painters including her grandfather, Rudolf Wetterau, an accomplished advertising artist in Manhattan.
Ocean City Arts Center Executive Director Rosalyn Lifshin said, “We are so lucky to have Ms. Barnett exhibit at the Arts Center in July as she is an award-winning artist, who paints and draws in many styles. Her jewelry and metal belts are one of a kind and are really outstanding.”
Barnett received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY in Buffalo, N.Y. and a master’s from the University of Hawaii. She maintains a studio at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts in Millville and in Egg Harbor City. In addition, Barnett was an art teacher at the St. Nicholas Catholic School in Egg Harbor City for five years. Well-traveled, Barnett uses her many experiences to create her art.
