Sandy relief benefit concerts
WXGN will be holding its second and third Sandy Relief Benefit Concerts for residents of Ocean City at the Heavenly Health Cafe in Somers Point. WXGN broadcasts from the Crown Bank building, 801 Asbury Ave. in Ocean City, and has put together four benefit concerts with all money going to OCNJ CARE. The second event will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at the Heavenly Health Café, 581 Ocean Heights Ave. in Somers Point. Local musicians Daryl Boyer and Allie Pisarro will each perform a 40-minute set. The price of admission is $5 and everyone is encouraged to bring a family-size canned good in exchange for a free cup of coffee. The third event will also be held 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Heavenly Health Café featuring Dave Pettigrew and Chelesa Musick. The fourth event will be held Friday, Dec. 21 at Word of Life Christian Fellowship, 508 Second Ave. in Galloway and will feature Bob Campanell. The event will be a complete pasta dinner and the price of admission is $12. Contact Bill Link at 609-816-5989.
Tickets on sale for Holiday Hits Bandstand by OCTC
This season, the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company invites you to come celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with its Holiday Hits Bandstand. The cast of professional singers and dancers will present a high-energy, family-oriented, song and dance tribute to the holidays, directed and choreographed by Michael Hartman. This annual tradition features a brand new set, theme and songs. Tickets are now on sale. Cost is $18 for adults, $15 for children under 12. Show dates and times are: 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15; and 2 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Ocean City Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. Artists United for Sandy presents a Christmas Celebration
Local artists Terri Showers, Gina Roche, The Chosen, The Elect and many more bring the sounds of the season in this free holiday benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in Ocean City 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 501 E. Eighth St. in Ocean City.
First Night 2013
First Night 2013, Ocean City’s non-alcoholic celebration of the New Year, will offer a selection of 60 shows from 4 p.m.-midnight. The volunteer committee of the Chamber of Commerce runs this program. Enjoy professional family entertainment capped by fireworks at midnight for $15 per person. An admission button also includes rides a Wonderland Pier 5-9 p.m. plus miniature golf at Gillian’s Adventure Golf 2-9 p.m. The entertainment ranges from magicians, jugglers and puppeteers to Broadway shows, a big band dance, the award-winning Trout Fishing In America, the Grease Band, Michael Hartman musical and dance productions, Japanese Drummers and more. The Ocean City Restaurant Association will offer its Taste of the Jersey Shore in the high school cafeteria, see www.eatinocnj.com. There is free jitney service to venues 5 p.m.-midnight. Street parking is free and there are numerous city parking lots available for free parking.
First Night buttons may be purchased at the Wonderland kiosk in Stainton’s, Eighth and Asbury; at Chamber of Commerce headquarters, Ninth Street across from TD Bank; or online at www.firstnightocnj.com.
