OCEAN CITY — On Dec. 4, the Ocean City High School ecology club joined members of the Environmental Commission to plant beach plum seedlings in the dunes at the Fourth Street beach. The students planted 50 seedlings and took part in a study being conducted by Jalma Farms and Rutgers Cooperative Extension to evaluate two different planting methods and the effect on the growth of the plants. Volunteers, commission members and representatives from the Cape May County Beach Plum Association also planted 100 seedlings in the dunes from 23rd to 27th streets. For more information on becoming a volunteer with the Environmental Commission, call 399-6111, ext. 9285.
