The perfect Valentine’s gift is in the eye of the giver

OCEAN CITY — What are people in Ocean City getting their loved ones for Valentine’s Day? Gazette publisher Rick Travers thinks he’s got the perfect gift for his wife with a hand-painted picture frame from Glazed Over Pottery on Asbury Avenue. Travers was in the store Saturday afternoon, Feb. 4 with wife Brenda to glaze the photo frame, as well as a few mugs for their children.

On Friday, Feb. 10, shoppers and employees along Asbury Avenue also shared their gift ideas.

Katie Ball of Ocean City, owner of Laura’s Fudge Shop, said truffles from her own store are the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

“I would definitely give something with vintage feel,” said Gailyn Noren of Ocean City, owner of Again on Asbury.

Emily Stewart of Medford Lakes said she was making her husband a gift this year.

“I’m drawing him a picture of us together from our first date,” she said.

“Actually, I kind of don’t believe in Valentine’s Day,” Rachel McGettigan of Marmora said. Instead, she suggested just being with your loved ones every day.

Dr. Eva Sesso of Ocean City and Philadelphia was in town to get her husband a gift.

“I’m getting my husband’s bronco truck repainted by Andy at Goodyear,” she said.

Curlie’s Cutting Crew staffer Paula Spoltore of Oceanview said a great gift for Valentine’s Day is kindness and showing appreciation.

Inside Ruth’s Hallmark, Kathy Keefrider of Ocean City said she was only purchasing cards for her Valentines. Meanwhile, Mary Madden of Sea Isle City was looking for a great gift for her daughter.

“A book definitely, and I’m making a photo album,” she said. “I just want to do something special.”

Mandy Blomdahl of Somers Point was behind the counter at Rauhauser’s helping others with their gifts. She said she was getting her daughter shoes and a necklace for Valentine’s Day.

At 7^th Street Surf Shop, Jason Carlisi of Marmora said he was doing the typical thing.

“Chocolate and flowers is probably what I’ll get,” he said. “Ideal would be, depends on what she wants.”

“I got my boyfriend shoes,” said Brooke Buscaglia of Ocean City. “Because that’s his thing.
