The Ocean City Police Department responded to 1,803 calls for service July 22-28.

On Sunday, July 22, police received 273 calls for service, responded to two accident and three alarms, made 65 motor vehicle stops and 19 property checks, and assisted with 16 fire calls and 16 EMS calls.

Warrant service at 4:04 a.m. on the 600 block of Bay Avenue; one in custody.

Drug investigation at 9:16 a.m. on the 900 block of Simpson Avenue; one in custody.

Theft at 10:03 a.m. on the 1000 block of Boardwalk.

Theft at 10:36 a.m. on the 1100 block of West Avenue.

Theft at 11:21 a.m. on the 1300 block of Ocean Avenue.

Motor vehicle accident at 11:21 a.m. at Eighth Street and Central Avenue; no injuries.

Theft at 4:28 p.m. on the 2300 block of Simpson Avenue.

Motor vehicle accident at 7:05 p.m. at Fourth Street and West Avenue; no injuries.

On Monday, July 23, police received 239 calls for service, responded to six accidents and one alarm, made 69 motor vehicle stops and 46 property checks, and assisted with 11 fire calls and nine EMS calls.

Theft at 1:55 a.m. on the 800 block of Seventh Street.

On Tuesday, July 24, police received 239 calls for service, responded to three accidents and seven alarms, made 59 motor vehicle stops and 52 property checks, and assisted with six fire calls and nine EMS calls.

On Saturday, July 28, police received 359 calls for service, responded to six accidents and two alarms, made 53 motor vehicle stops and 64 property checks, and assisted with 13 fire calls and 12 EMS calls.

Drug investigation at 2:18 p.m. on the 1200 block of Wesley Avenue; three in custody.

Public service announcements:

It is a violation of a city ordinance to have dogs on the boardwalk any time during the year.

When driving on Route 52, remember that the speed limit is 40 mph.

The bicycle ordinance restricting use on the boardwalk is now in effect.

Always remember to swim at a lifeguard protected beach and do not swim after hours. 

It is a crime in the state of New Jersey for any person to possess fireworks. The Ocean City Police Department has a zero tolerance policy when dealing with individuals who violate this law.
