Upset in Ocean City Board of Education election

Jacqueline McAlister takes seat on board

OCEAN CITY -- In a four-way race for three seats on the Ocean City Board of Education, challenger Jacqueline McAlister has unseated incumbent Pete Madden.

According to unofficial results, incumbent Tom Oves was the big vote winner, with 3,326 votes. McAlister was second with 2,414 votes, incumbent Jim Bauer was third with 2,198 votes and Madden, a former school board president, finished fourth with 2,090.

The tallies do not include absentee and provisional votes.

Incumbent Tiffany Prettyman was unchallenged for a one-year seat on the board to finish the term of Councilman Antwan McClellan.
