OCEAN CITY -- Starting Saturday, Nov. 10, Ready's Coffee Shop is offering downtown merchants who suffered losses due to Hurricane Sandy a brighter start to their day.
Doug Wing, owner of Ready's, will provide complimentary takeout breakfast sandwiches and coffee to merchants who are struggling to get their businesses up and running after taking on two to three of water during the superstorm.
"I am sorry for the difficult times you face as a consequence of Hurricane Sandy," is printed on the vouchers Wing hopes merchants will begin redeeming starting Saturday morning. "Let me know if there is anything we at Ready's can do to help you."
"We were fortunate enough to get back up and running in a few days," Wing said of his motivation in providing the downtown merchants with a bite to eat. "One day, we were the only place open on the island. We've have record-breaking days. I wanted to give something back to the community."
Ready's on Eighth Street was flooded with about six inches of water but was able to reopen two days after the hurricane, when the city began allowing residents to return home.
