OCEAN CITY — City Council will meet 7 p.m. in the library, 1735 Simpson Ave., instead of City Hall for its Nov. 15 meeting. This will be the first meeting of the month for council after both the Nov. 1 and 8 meetings were canceled.

The agenda includes no ordinances, but several resolutions under the consent agenda.

Council will be asked to award various contracts including a two-year agreement with S. Vitale Pyrotechnic Industries of New Castle, Pa. for Fourth of July fireworks at $54,600 each year, with a $5,000 optional grand finale presentation shell.

Another resolution is for three change orders for the Peck’s Beach Village roof replacement project in the amount of $66,039, bringing the total cost of the project to $740,666.

Council will be asked to support the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s speed limit recommendations for the Route 52 causeway. According to the resolution, the DOT recommends the speed for westbound traffic between Palen Avenue in Ocean City and the Ocean City-Somers Point corporate line (milepost 1.91) be 45 mph.

For eastbound traffic from the Ocean City-Somers Point corporate line (milepost 1.91) to 1,300 feet west of Palen Avenue (milepost .34), the DOT recommends a speed limit of 45 mph; and for the remainder of Route 52 east to Palen Avenue, the speed limit is recommended at 35 mph.

The final two resolutions provide for a $9.9 million bond sale for the city, scheduled for Dec. 5, pending council approval. The city had initially attempted to sell $16.75 million in bonds earlier this fall to take advantage of low interest rates, but the plan was rejected by the state Local Finance Board due to its nonconforming maturity schedule. The new sale will have a conforming maturity schedule, according to a memorandum from Frank Donato, city director of finance, to council.
