OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Office of Emergency Management has announced that a Disaster Recovery Center is now open at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. The Federal Emergency Management Agency opened the center in response to a request from the Ocean City Office of Emergency Management. The opening of this DRC will provide residents and business owners with direct and local access to these federal agencies.
FEMA representatives and the Small Business Administration will staff the Disaster Recovery Center. The FEMA staff is in place to assist those who have registered with FEMA for property damage claims or displaced housing needs. The SBA is in place to assist in the recovery process for local businesses who have sustained damage from Hurricane Sandy.
The center is located in the library lecture room and staffed 8 a.m.-8 p.m. through Wednesday, Nov. 21. The center is closed on Thanksgiving, Nov. 22, and will re-open on Friday, Nov. 23 9 a.m.-7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to register with FEMA online or over the phone prior to coming to the DRC at www.disasterassistance.gov or 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Preregistering will help in expediting the process once arriving at the DRC. Bring all pertinent documents with you including insurance information.
