OCEAN CITY – Frank Manco, whose father founded one of the Jersey Shore’s most iconic businesses 57 years ago, died Saturday after a lengthy illness.

He was 81.

Manco, who ran the successful pizzeria with his wife, Kay, kept the business in Ocean City and expanded it to three stores. His father, Vincent Manco, founded the business in 1956 with Anthony Mack, whose three sons, Dominic, Vince and Joseph, went on to own pizzerias in Wildwood and Atlantic City.

In late 2011, after 55 years as Mack and Manco, the pizzeria confirmed it was changing its name to Manco and Manco.

In addition to his wife, Manco is survived by his daughter, Mary, and son-in-law, Chuck Bangle.

A service will be held at noon Thursday, March 7 at St. Augustine’s, 13th Street and Wesley Avenue. A viewing will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be private on Friday.
