5 candidates for Ocean City Council, 2 for mayor

OCEAN CITY — Five candidates for the three at-large council seats and two for mayor have submitted petitions with the city clerk by the 4 p.m. deadline Monday, March 10 for the Tuesday, May 13 nonpartisan municipal election.

City Clerk Linda MacIntyre said all the petitions have been certified.

The candidates who have filed petitions for the three at-large council seats, which are four-year terms, are newcomers Pete Madden, Eric Sauder and Michael Hyson and incumbents Keith Hartzell and Michael Allegretto.

At-large Councilman Scott Ping announced Monday he will not seek re-election.

Mayor Jay Gillian has filed his petition to seek his second term as mayor, also a four-year term. In addition, resident Ed Price is running for mayor.

MacIntyre said she plans to hold the drawing for ballot positions 4 p.m. Friday, March 14 at the clerk’s office, 550 Asbury Ave.
