Husband and wife duo win Art on Asbury March show

OCEAN CITY — Ventnor couple Michael and Grace Zambelli took first and second place, respectively, in the Ocean City Fine Arts League’s “Travel Inspirations” March show.

Over 80 pieces of artwork were submitted as artists shared their travels at the Art on Asbury Gallery. Michael Zambelli received first place for his work “Chef King.” Grace Zambelli received second place for her work “Bring Me Dream.”

Honorable mentions went to Brenda Bradford of Hammonton for “Pebble Beach”; Lisa Ferraro of Seaville for “Reflecting Pond”; Rae Jaffe of Ocean City for “Palm Beach Mediterranean”; and Barbara Rosin of Philadelphia, Pa. for “Summer Orchard.”

All artwork is for sale at the Art on Asbury Gallery, 608 Asbury Ave.

It's all about the Earth and environment this April at the gallery as Ocean City Fine Arts League presents two shows, one dedicated to architecture and another that promotes Ocean City’s efforts to go green.

The Ocean City Fine Arts League invites all artists to submit up to two entries for the "Architectural Insights" competition and exhibition. Maximum size is 50 united inches. Entry fee is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. Entries, accepted in all mediums and reflecting any theme, can be dropped off Friday, March 28; Saturday, March 29; Sunday, March 30 and Monday, March 31.

The Ocean City “Protect Our Environment” show will feature artwork created from recyclable plastic, metal and/or paper. Entry is free and 2D art must be 18-by-20 inches or smaller, 3D art must be 15-by-15-by-15 inches or smaller. Entries can be dropped off until March 20. Eight cash or merchandise prizes will be awarded.

There will be a meet the artist reception and awards presentation for the “Architectural Insights” show 6 p.m. Friday, April 11 at the gallery. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
