OCEAN CITY – A Somers Point man and his son made quite the catch during their Father’s Day fishing trip June 15.

Robert Moss and his 9-year-old son, Parker, caught a 394-pound thresher shark around 28-Mile Wreck, a fishing site about 28 miles off of Ocean City. Moss said it was definitely the biggest shark he had ever caught.

Moss said that the shark was too large to fit in the boat, so it needed to be towed in. During the three-hours it took to get the thresher under control, Moss’s son helped reel in the catch and operated the boat. Mostly, it was up to Dad and their family friend Ken Ruckle to get the shark under control.

Once they got it home, Moss said that shark was filleted and has been dinner for a few nights.

“We’re eating him up all this week,” Moss said June 20.
