Two local girls crowned at Miss Cape May County pageant

Dana Piccoli is crowned Miss Cape May County Saturday at the Music Pier. She will compete in the Miss New Jersey Pageant next year. OCEAN CITY – Two Upper Township girls were crowned at the Miss Cape May County and Miss Cape Resorts pageants held Saturday at the Ocean City Music Pier.

Dana Piccoli, 22, of Beesleys Point won the Miss Cape May Pageant. She is a former Miss Ocean City and is studying at the Stockton College School of Education to become a teacher.

She will now compete in the Miss New Jersey Pageant next June at the Music Pier. The winner there will be in the Miss American Pageant.

Madison Kennelly, of Upper Township, was crowned Miss Cape May County’s Outstanding Teen.

Sandy Hilla was crowned Miss Cape Resort. She will also compete in the Miss New Jersey Pageant next year. Grace Herdelin was named Miss Cape Resort’s Outstanding Teen.

The Miss Cape May County Scholarship Program is a division of the Miss America Organization. The Miss America Organization is the largest single scholarship program for women in the world, according to the organization’s website.

More than $32 million in cash and in-kind educational scholarships are awarded each year in national, state, and local programs held throughout the United States.
