Streets are in deplorable condition

To the editor:

Why are the streets in Ocean City in such deplorable condition?  Are some of the property taxes received earmarked for street repair?  After spending over $400 million on the new bridge linking Somers Point to Ocean City, (a small island with a year-round  population of 11,000 and declining) you drive down our streets and you feel like you are riding a horse and buggy. I cannot remember when I have seen any streets being repaved.  It is an embarrassment.

I have noticed that the streets in Somers Point, Linwood and Northfield are in much better condition.
