Two dead after early morning shooting in Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE – A 22-year-old Absecon man and a 26 year-old Atlantic City man were shot and killed in Pleasantville early on Friday, Jan. 20, according to police.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, John Soto of Absecon and Dometrio Rodriguez of Atlantic City were fatally shot at approximately 1 a.m. near the 800 block of Woodland Avenue near the intersection of Somerset and Spruce Avenues.

Autopsies were scheduled for Friday afternoon. Pleasantville Police Department responded to a call of shots fired in the area, where the officers found the deceased victims, both of whom had sustained gunshot wounds.

“At this time, the Major Crimes Unit is investigating the potential that these murders were gang related,” Prosecutor Theodore F. L. Housel stated.No arrests have been made at this time.
