Man charged in Pleasanvtille stabbing death

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City was arrested and another is wanted in connection with a homicide that took place earlier this week in Pleasantville, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel announced.

 

Sergio Mendez, 20, was arrested at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at a residence on Sovereign Avenue in Atlantic City, according to police. Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Shooting Response Team and the Atlantic City Police Department made the arrest.

 

He was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the murder of Jose Daniel Aguilar-Mexquititla, 20, of Somers Point, who was fatally beaten and stabbed outside Wash’s Inn in Pleasantville Tuesday morning.

Police are searching for Juan Lopez, 25, also of Atlantic City, who has been charged with murder in connection with the death. Lopez was last seen in the Atlantic City area, according to police reports, and is considered armed and dangerous.
