EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Art students from Pleasantville High School went to work Monday, Feb. 13 at the Lexus Atlantic City dealership on the Black Horse Pike.

Members of the school Art Club and advanced placement art students are painting murals on the walls of the car dealer’s preowned vehicle showroom as part of a school project supervised by art teachers Robin D’Adamo and Amy Gardiner.

Two large murals are being painted on the walls of the main showroom, and a smaller painting will appear on a wall in the restroom.

The teachers selected two scenes of Atlantic City as the backdrop for images of featured cars chosen by the dealership.

The mural on the back wall, which visitors will see when they enter the showroom, depits a car parked in front of a modern day Atlantic City skyline.

Another, to be painted on the side wall of the showroom, will feature a scene from a vintage Atlantic City postcard, with more pastel colors, D’Adamo said.

“This project helps the students get some community service credits they need to apply to colleges,” she said. “More and more colleges want to see that students are engaging and becoming involved in their communities.”

The murals are expected to take a few weeks to complete, she said, due to the students’ school schedules.
