Police charge Absecon roommates with aggravated assault

ABSECON – A pair of roommates weren’t behaving like the best of friends on Saturday, July 21, when they were arrested after a fight broke out between them.

Absecon police arrested two individuals for aggravated assault and weapons offenses after they were called out at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 21 to 21A Station Ave. where a fight had just occurred.

Police said an argument between Ryan S. Romanek, 36, and William R. Schleigh, 44, both of Absecon, had turned into a fight.

Schleigh cut Romanek during the altercation, police said. Both men refused medical treatment.

Police charged Schleigh with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and maintaining a disorderly house. He was jailed at the Gerard  L. Gormley Justice Facility in Mays Landing on $50,000 cash bail.

Police charged Romanek with aggravated assault, possession of a syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the Gerard  L. Gormley Justice Facility on $100,000 cash bail.

Both men were unable to post bail, police said.
