ABSECON – City Administrator Terry Dolan issued the following storm cleanup policy effective until further notice:
All contractors must remove all waste they generate, including leaves, brush, trees and construction material.
Residents may move leaves and branches to the curb. They must separate leaves from branches and containerize branches to the degree that is possible.
Residents are advised to cut limbs into 4-foot lengths and make sure the debris they place at the curb does not block storm drains or fire hydrants.
The city began leaf collection with leaf machines Nov. 5. Collections will be performed based on volume and not on zones.
City crews will collect leaves first and then branches and large limbs, so residents are advised to be patient if their leaves are gone and branches remain. The crews will be back.
There are no plans for dumpsters at this time.
The Atlantic County Utility Authority has resumed normal collection schedules for trash, recycling and yard waste. Please be sure your containers are accessible and not obstructed by leaves or branches.
Residents are asked to avoid blocking the streets, storm drains or fire hydrants with debris.
Dolan urged residents to be careful throughout the storm cleanup process. For information call Bob Battista at (609) 641-0663, ext. 105.
