ABSECON - For at least the third time in recent weeks, the Absecon Police Department is investigating a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident.

This time police are searching for the owner and driver of a Dodge minivan that struck a  55-year-old female at 5:37 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 while she walked through the Shoprite parking lot.

The store is located at the intersection of Route 30 and Mill Road.

Absecon EMS personnel treated the woman's injuries and transported her to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus in Galloway for further care.

Police described the minivan as a dark green Dodge Caravan or Chyrsler Town and County built between 1996 and 2000. The minivan had gray plastic body moldings.

No one was able to record the vehicle's license plates, police said.

Witnesses told police they saw an elderly white man leave the minivan and enter the store while the vehicle circled the parking lot and before it struck the woman.

After the incident, the driver turned off the minivan's headlights and fled to the Route 30 side of the parking lot where it waited until the elderly man left the store.

After the male re-entered the minivan, the vehicle fled the parking lot and headed eastbound on New Jersey Avenue.

Absecon Ptl. Christian Cavileer is investigating the accident.

Anyone with information should call the Absecon police at (609) 641-0667,
