Residents who live along one of Absecon’s quieter side streets were startled awake by the sound of crunching metal as the result of a one-car accident 6:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.

The accident occurred when Robert Sink, 21, of Egg Harbor Township lost control of a white 2002 Mercury Sable he was driving northbound along the 700 block of Ambassador Drive, according to a release issued by the Absecon Police Department.

Ambassador Drive, which runs past Heritage Park and the city’s Municipal Complex, has a 25 mph speed limit.

Sink’s vehicle struck a parked motor vehicle, went off the roadway and struck a tree.

Sink was transported by Absecon Ambulance to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Division, where he was listed in critical condition as of Sunday afternoon.

Police shut down the 700 block of Ambassador Avenue for three hours to investigate the crash and clean up the scene.

Anyone with additional information should call the Absecon Police Department at (609) 641-0667.
