Absecon seeks nominees for Citizen of the Year award

ABSECON – In a city that’s seemingly full of people who care more about others than themselves, there always seems to be someone who cares even a little bit more.

The Absecon Citizen of the Year Committee wants to know who he or she is.

The committee is looking for such a person or family to be named Absecon’s Citizen or Citizens of the Year for 2013.

This prestigious award is given annually to a volunteer who has contributed to making Absecon a nice place to work and raise a family and without the thought of personal gain.

Consideration will also be given to contributions made to other communities, organizations and the Greater Atlantic County area, according to Bob Kusnirik, the award committee chairman.

In addition to an individual award, a financial contribution will be made to the recipient’s favorite charity, he said.

The name of the award recipient will also be engraved on a permanent plaque located in the city’s municipal complex.

Previous recipients include: Charlie Norris, Bill Parker, Tony Iaconelli Sr., Andrew Applegate, Ben Graziano, Chickie and Charlie Coyle, Jack Bayer and Barry Hackett.

To be nominated or considered for the award, a nominee must be an Absecon citizen, family or business person who unselfishly gave up time and talent to better the community without the thought of personal gain.

If a family wins, only one reward will be given to the family.

Mail nominations along with a summary of the nominee’s accomplishments to the Citizen of the Year Committee, C/O the Absecon Republican Club, P.O. Box 123, Absecon, NJ 08201.
