ABSECON – Let the music begin!

Absecon’s annual free Concert in the Park Series begins its eight-week run of song-filled weekly Sunday-night concerts on June 23.

City officials announced this year's lineup of artists who will perform at 7 p.m. in Heritage Park along Ambassador Drive in Absecon.

Local talent Lighthouse opens the series and will perform songs that include oldies, swing and pop.

Decca recording stars the Cole Brothers Band will appear June 30 and play the sounds of Elton John, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and the Bee Gees.

July’s list of performances begins with the Juicy Band on July 7. The group performs a playlist that includes Top 40 music, oldies, R&B, classic rock, party fund and dance tunes.

The Rubber Souls Band, billed as the Delaware Valley’s finest Beatles tribute group, invites you to sing along to your favorite Beatles songs on Sunday, July 14.

Alex Glover and Company will play big band, disco, rock and country selections when the group takes the stage on July 21.

Award-winning artist Beth Tinnon will round out July’s list of performances on July 28.

Absecon native Danny Eyer and his band will perform his selection of rock and roll and blues selections on Aug. 4. Eyer recently performed at the Absecon Fire Department’s 100th anniversary celebration. He has opened for country superstars Tim McGraw and Brooks and Dunn.

Mike Crosson and Friends will round out the series when they give an acoustic performance on Aug. 4.

The Concerts in the Park Series in presented by the City of Absecon and the Absecon Public Library.

Absecon’s Concerts in the Park are sponsored by the City Parks and Playgrounds Committee, Pete Higbee, chairman; Absecon American Legion Post No. 28, Arthur Rinaldo, commander; Absecon City Council, Jim Vizthum, president; and Mayor John Armstrong.

Food will be available at the concession stand. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
