ABSECON - Two suspects were arrested after members of the Absecon police department caught up to them during a vehicle and foot pursuit that began at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 in Atlantic City, police said.
LaQuay Elliott, 20, of Absecon was arrested by police after he broke into a house on the 300 block of Pine Street while attempting to avoid capture, Absecon Police Chief David K. Risley said.
Police pursued him into the residence where he was taken into custody.
Police recovered a loaded 9MM handgun which Elliott had attempted to discard during the foot chase, Risley said.
The other suspect’s name was not released by police.
The incident began in Atlantic City when Elliott and the other suspect refused to pull over during a traffic stop by that city’s police department.
They took off and the chase continued east on Route 30 and north on Pitney Road where the suspects bailed out of their vehicle, Risley said.
Several officers from the Atlantic City and Absecon police departments gave chase, leading to the immediate arrest of the unnamed suspect.
Elliott fled on foot through several back yards on OakLand and Pine Street, Risley said.
There are multiple charges pending in both municipalities.
Anyone with additional information should contact either the Atlantic City or Absecon police departments.
The Absecon phone number is (609) 641-0667.
