Armed bandits rob Absecon motel, tie up crew

ABSECON - Armed gunmen barged their way into an Absecon hotel on Monday evening, bound up the crew and made away with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, cash and electronics equipment.

The victims called police at 9:24 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 to report an armed robbery at the Royal Lodge Motel, 553 Absecon Boulevard, according to the Absecon Police Department.

Victims bound, office ransacked

Three black males had entered the office to inquire about room rate, the victims told police. Then the men forced their way behind the counter and into the hotel’s office.

While one of the men held the victims at gunpoint, the others bound them up and ransacked the office apartment, Absecon police said.

The intruders stole about $3,000 in cash and $2,600 in jewelry and electronics, Absecon police said.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction, possibly in a dark colored SUV, Absecon police said.

The suspects were able to free themselves and call 911, Absecon police said.

Robbers' descriptions

The first male is described as being 5-foot-10, 250 pounds, 25-35 years old and wearing a black jacket, gray jeans, black boots and a gray knitted hat with a facemask. He held the handgun.

The second male is described as 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, 25-35 years old, wearing a black jacket, black jeans, black boots and gray knitted hat with a facemask.

The third male is described as 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, 25-35 years old, and wearing a black jacket, black jeans, black bots and a gray knitted hat with a facemask.

Absecon police seek public's help

Absecon police officer Andrew Southrey and Detective C. Leigh Gadd Jr. are investigating the case, police said.
