ABSECON - A pair of would-be robbers jumped an Absecon man and stabbed him in the left hand during a failed robbery attempt late Friday night.

Eugene Woods, 28, of Absecon was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus by the Galloway Township Ambulance Service for treatment, according to release posted by Absecon Police Sgt. Robert Ponzetti.

Woods suffered a non life-threatening knife wound to the left hand when he fought off his attackers. They failed to get any money from him.

Woods told police he was jumped by a pair of men at 10:28 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17 near the entrance to the Oyster Bay Condominiums complex off of California Avenue.

Woods told Absecon police he was walking home when the attack occurred.

Woods described the suspects as black males, dressed in all black. One of them wore a ski mask.

Woods told police the suspects fled through the Oyster Bay Complex and toward Absecon Village, Ponzetti said.

A Pleasantville K-9 unit responded to the scene and attempted to track the suspects, Ponzetti said. Unfortunately, the suspects were unable to be located.

Absecon Ptl. Dan Markman is investigating the robbery attempt, Ponzetti said.
