PLEASANTVILLE – An investigation is continuing into a downtown Pleasantville shooting that sent an Egg Harbor Township man to the hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim, 35, whose name is being withheld by police, was shot shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 near the Mexico Lindo restaurant at 375 S. Main St., according to a release issued by Pleasantville Police Capt. Sean Riggin.

Police found the man in his vehicle when they responded to the scene, Riggin said. He was transported to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

A female passenger, 34, of Florida was uninjured, Riggin said.

The police are withholding further details on the victim pending investigation, Riggin said.

The victim and witnesses said the shots came from a silver late-model four-door Toyota with multiple occupants, Riggin said.

Police determined that at least three rounds struck the victim’s vehicle. They are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting, Riggin said.

Pleasantville Detective Richard Henderson is leading the investigation.
