Absecon gas station robbed at gunpoint

ABSECON _ The Absecon Police Department is searching for two men who held up a popular city gasoline station early Saturday morning.

According to the Absecon police, two men forcibly robbed a gasoline station attendant at gunpoint at 3:52 a.m. Saturday, March 14 the Sun Petro Gas Station, 101 Absecon Boulevard. The station sits at the corner of Shore Road and Route 30.

The men approached the attendant and forcibly removed several hundred dollars in cash, his cell phone, his keys, cigarettes and lighter, Absecon police said.

The robbers then ran south on Shore Road to a black get-away car that was parked underneath the train bridge near Ohio Avenue, police said.

A witness told police the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed toward Pleasantville.

Absecon police said the suspect with the gun is described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, thin to medium build and wearing black boots, jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and a flat brim baseball cap.

The second suspect was described as a white male, also age 20-25, with a thin to medium build. He wore a yellow or orange jacket.

The Atlantic City Police Department helped Absecon with the investigation being conducted by Absecon Police Officer Dan Howell and Det. Leigh Gadd.
