Man injured in Route 30 rollover accident

ABSECON – A Manahawkin man was injured Thursday evening when he was involved in an accident in the westbound lanes of Route 30 at Turner Avenue, according to Absecon police.

Robert Martinelle, 64, of Manahawkin was traveling west at 9:05 p.m. April 3 on Route 30 when he failed to stop for a red light, Absecon police said.

Martinelle’s Nissan Xterra then collided with a Mercedes-Benz driven by Jeffrey Avant, 43, of Galloway, according to reports. Avant was driving south on Turner Avenue on the eastern side of Absecon.

Martinelle’s vehicle overturned as a result of the impact and ended up on its roof, police said.

Absecon Ambulance Squad personnel transported Martinelle to an area hospital for evaluation. The Absecon Fire Department also responded to the accident.
