Man walks into traffic, struck by vehicle

PLEASANTVILLE - A 38-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday, May 1 when he walked into traffic and was struck by a passing vehicle, according to a statement from the Pleasantville Police Department.

The incident occurred at 1:09 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and Lake Place, according to Pleasantville Police Capt. Sean Riggin.

Witnesses told police the victim walked out into traffic and was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Main Street.

The vehicle's driver was unhurt and remained on location until police arrived.

However, the victim suffered serious head trauma and was transported to AtlantiCare regional Medical Center City Campus for treatment. His family has been notified.

Pleasantville Traffic Safety Officer Ralph Burke is the investigating officer.

The names of the driver and the victim were not released.
