Hamilton motorcyclist seriously injured in Absecon accident

ABSECON - A Hamilton Township man was seriously injured Wednesday, May 7 when his motorcycle was struck by a car, throwing him to the ground, according to Absecon Police Sgt. Robert Ponzetti.

Kenneth Oglesby, 42, of Hamilton Township was riding south on New Road when he was struck by a Toyota Avalon operated by Rajendra Patel, 57, of Absecon, Ponzetti said.

Patel was headed north on New Road when he attempted to make a left-hand turn into the Absecon Laundromat parking lot.

Patel’s vehicle collided with Oglesby’s motorcycle, throwing him from his vehicle, Ponzetti said.

Absecon Emergency Medical Services personnel transported Oglesby to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus for treatment of serious injuries, Ponzetti said. Oglesby’s condition is unknown at this time.

Patel and his passenger were uninjured.

Police shut down New Road between Ohio Avenue and Holy Spirit High School for 90 minutes as a result of the accident.

No tickets have been issued, but an investigation by Absecon Ptl. Christian Cavileer is continuing, Ponzetti said.
