The Donny Fund was created in 1993 to honor the memory of Donald Sykes, according to the organization’s web page.

Its mission is to aid area families affected by catastrophic illness and to promote universal positivity and optimism.

Each spring the Donny Fun Day, St. Pat's Run and Rainbow Channel Swim give participants the opportunity to support the effort by rowing, paddling, running, walking or swimming.

All proceeds are used to provide transportation, clothing, home care, medication, chemotherapy, and special days out for those in need in the local community.

Additionally, the Donny Fund and JNS Foundation support the South Jersey Field of Dreams, a place where physically and mentally challenged children and adults can play baseball.
