The robbery occurred at 11:48 a.m., Friday, May 16 at the CVS Pharmacy, 603 White Horse Pike.

A man approached the cashier, placed items on the counter and handed over a hand-written note warning the cashier not to scream or she would be harmed, according to a release issued by Ptl. Mark Williams. The man then showed a pocket knife and demanded money.

After the cashier complied with his demand, he fled the store on foot, Williams said.

Absecon Police Department personnel set up a perimeter and an Egg Harbor Township K-9 unit responded but was unable to track the suspect’s scent.

Police think the suspect may have fled area in a vehicle once he was out of sight of the store.

The man is described as a white male in his 30s. He wore a black bandana, sun glasses, a woodland style camo sweat shirt with a black t-shirt underneath. He also wore black three-quarter length cargo pants, and dark brown hiking boots. He had a piercing on his lower lip.

Absecon Detective Leigh Gadd and Ptl. April Kolakowski are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information should contact the Absecon Police Department Detective Bureau at 609-641-0667 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-658-TIPS.

Ironically, the CVS store where the robbery occurred is located about 1,400 feet, or little more than a quarter-mile, away from the Absecon Municipal Complex where the city’s police department is located.
