Absecon police report attempted late-night child luring

Absecon Police Department Absecon Police Department ABSECON - A 14-year-old Absecon girl was forced to run for safety Monday evening when a man attempted to lure her into his car, according to the Absecon Police.

The girl, who was not identified, was walking to a friend’s house at 10 p.m.., Monday, July 7, according to a release issued by Absecon Sgt. Robert Ponzetti.

While she walked along Pitney Road and toward Huron Avenue, an Hispanic male driving a medium-sized blue four-door vehicle pulled up next to her, Ponzetti said.

He told her to get into the vehicle twice before she took off running to the friend’s house, Ponzetti said. Once there, she contacted the Absecon Police.

The driver is described as being in his mid-30s, with dark hair and a large nose. The girl described his vehicle as a newer vehicle with possible New Jersey license plates.

The incident occurred on Pitney Road just before Huron, Ponzetti said.

The suspect fled north on Pitney Road toward Galloway.
