Two Pleasantville men were arrested Tuesday, Aug. 12 after they were spotted by a North Shore Road resident as they attempted to rob the home owner, according to an Absecon police department release. Darren Smilley, 47, of Pleasantville was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit burglary. He was jailed at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail.

Leonard White, 41, of Pleasantville was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. White was jailed at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $10,000 bail.

Police received a call at 4:30 p.m. from the homeowner, who claimed two men were attempting to break into his home.

When police arrived they spotted the men while they were coming out from behind the home with items taken from inside the residence.
