State of the Union address nothing more than a campaign speech

President Barack Obama's speech last Tuesday was not an address to the nation, but a political campaign speech. He couldn't name one accomplishment achieved during the past three years.

You didn't even have to watch the 2012 version. Exact lines from 2010 and 2011 were parroted in year three of America's continuing nightmare.

The United States is now more than $16 trillion in debt. When Obama took office we were $10.7 trillion in debt.

Obama has often maligned President George W. Bush for the increase in our national debt (from $5.7 trillion to $10.7 trillion) during Bush's eight years in office, calling it “un-American.”

Obama has accumulated more national debt in three years than Bush did in eight. You almost never hear about this fact. The United States has had a public debt since our founding back in 1791, but never like this.

A full 70 percent of Americans believe that the country is on the wrong track – a staggering number. Despite all of this, Obama has called for a doubling of the capital gains tax rate (from 15 percent to 30 percent).

This is a horrifically bad idea that would substantially hurt investment and kill jobs in America. This is the exact kind of crazy, liberal tax policy that has kept America from emerging from the funk of our Great Recession.

Who wants to invest, risk or create jobs in an environment such as this? Some 377,000 Americans applied for unemployment benefits in the latest announcement this past Wednesday. This is higher than experts had forecasted and reflects a substantial increase from the holiday numbers that had been achieved.

Last week I wrote about leadership and America's thirst for it. Gov. Chris Christie's State of the State address was filled with accomplishments since he took office two years ago. Christie calls it the “New Jersey comeback."

Obama has been in office for three years, and he can't even name a single accomplishment?

The only reason the unemployment rate keeps coming down is because they are cooking the books to try and help re-elect Obama.

I heard this rationale recently: The Obama apologists are now trying to make the case that the "new normal" in America is 7 percent unemployment. The media savaged President George W. Bush when unemployment was 6 percent.  Now we have to get used to a new normal.

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke said last week that it will be many years (perhaps a decade) before things really get better. That would basically mean that we have to accept a lost decade and a half. Is that really acceptable to anyone?

We are entering the most important nine months of our lifetime. The record spin and lies that will be spewed to try to help re-elect Obama will be breathtaking to experience.

Watch as these intellectually dishonest Chicago Land politicos spin that 8 percent unemployment is great; that the $6 trillion in new debt is not a problem.

I interviewed former President Bush senior advisor Brad Blakeman last week. He made many great points in our 45 minutes together. He reminded me that the Supreme Court will be coming out in June with a ruling on Obama Care.

If the Supreme Court of the United States declares Obama’s health care plan unconstitutional, this could cripple his re-election efforts. Because if Obama is rebuked this summer during the heat of the presidential campaign, it will clearly remind Americans that Obama set forward an unpopular scheme that permits the government to trample on the rights of Americans by making the purchase of health care compulsory, or suffer a financial penalty at the hands of the federal government.

The national pro-Obama media knows that Obama's re-election effort is in big trouble. That's why you see them attempting to select and destroy the Republican nominee at the same time.

Make no mistake about it. Obama and his media friends want former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to be the Republican nominee.

Obama adopted a strategy in Chicago that has served him very well. He destroys his opponent, and then he's the only one left standing.

He has amassed one of the worst records for a president who is seeking re-election in American history. His only chance to be re-elected is to try and make his opponent unacceptable to the American voters. It's exactly why Obama and his operatives are attacking Gov. Mitt Romney on a daily basis.

I remind you that they do not criticize Gingrich at all. Now you know why.
