The Wildwoods were named among America's most fun, affordable cities by Bloomberg Businessweek magazine.

According to the Bloomberg Businessweek website, the cities that make up the Wildwoods are home to 150 dining locales ranging from family to upscale to restaurants, along with a number of nightlife venues including dance clubs, Irish pubs, lounges, sports bars and deck hangouts, many offering live bands. The dining and nightlife found in the Wildwoods, combined with the island's median home price of $306,250 and population of 14,931, earned the Wildwoods the number 12 spot on the list.

Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate, with real estate data company Onboard Informatics, evaluated 6,106 ZIP codes where the median home price is within 20 percent of the state’s median home price. It then selected the 25 areas with the greatest number of bars and restaurants to generate a list of areas outside major metropolises offering both affordable homes and a variety of restaurants and bars.

Ocean City, Md., won the top spot on the list, which includes Orlando, Fla. (21); Richmond, Va. (19); Myrtle Beach, S.C. (15); Scottsdale, Ariz. (4); and several Hawaiian cities.

"Recognition from a distinguished publication like Bloomberg Businessweek is a huge honor for us in the Wildwoods," said John Siciliano, executive director of the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority.

He said making the list shows the island is not only a perfect place to vacation, but one of best places to live in terms of value and quality of life.
