Shoreman Shoreman Half-Distance Triathlon The organizers of the Jersey Genesis Triathlon and DQ Events are gearing up for the 3rd Annual Shoreman Half Distance Triathlon and Aquabike. The race is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 at Harry Bowen Park in Port Republic. Start time is 7 a.m. and race day sign ups are available.

Last year’s race drew 400 athletes from around the tri-state area. The 1.2 mile swim starts and finishes at the Port Republic Beach area, which is part of the Mullica River water shed. The 56-mile bike takes athletes through a portion of Galloway Township, Egg Harbor City, Mullica Township and back to Port Republic.

The 13.1 run is all within the border of Port Republic. Motorists can expect delays if traveling through town on race day.

The community has provided race organizers with an army of volunteers along with County Sheriffs, State Police and Galloway Ambulance to provide for a safe event.

Tilton Fitness will again be providing one-day passes to the Galloway Club for all registered athletes to use their facility. Packet pickup is 3-7 PM Friday, Sept. 6 at Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light Tavern located at Historic Town of Smithville.
