darcy Mike Schultz/Holy Spirit's Pat D'Arcy (113) will compete for a state title tomorrow at Boardwalk Hall. ATLANTIC CITY - If you are wondering what Holy Spirit's Pat D'Arcy will be doing tonight, he'll take in some fluids, make sure his weight is OK, watch some video and get a good night's sleep.

There may not be much food on his plate this evening but his plate will be full Sunday when he faces Bergen Catholic's Nick Suriano to earn the right to be the best 113-pound wrestler in the state.

D'Arcy defeated Robbinsville's Chris Tan 3-2 in the semifinals of the NJSIAA State Championship on Saturday at Boardwalk Hall to stamp his ticket to the finals.

"It feels awesome to be in the state finals but there's one more match left in the season and I want to go out on top," D'Arcy said.

He has wrestled three times since Friday night. He won his pre-quarterfinal bout 5-1 over Don Bosco's Avery Shay on Friday. On Saturday, prior to his semifinal win, D'Arcy defeated Hanover Park's Lou Raimo 6-3.

Sunday’s match against Suriano is much anticipated and expected. Suriano is the number one ranked wrestler in New Jersey at 113 pounds. He is also ranked number two in the country at that weight class.

Last year, the two faced one another in the quarterfinals of the state tournament, with Suriano winning. This season they met at the Beast of the East and Suriano again emerged victorious.

"I'm definitely going to game plan tonight,” D’Arcy said. “I have to watch the video. He (Suriano) doesn't have too many holes in his game but I have to do my best to see whatever I can find (in the video) so I can wrestle him hard tomorrow. I expect it to be a very tough match but I'm going in there looking to win."

Win or lose, D'Arcy can't finish lower than second place, which is a place higher than he finished last season in the state tournament as a sophomore when he took third at 106 pounds.

D'Arcy is one of four Region 8 wrestlers to compete in the finals on Sunday. He is joined by St. Augustine's Jack Clark (152), Paulsboro's Ronnie Gentile (138) and Delsea's Brian Dobzanski (220).

Finals begin Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Absegami's Chris D'Alfonso (120), Will Sanz (195) and Chris Henchy (220) along with Holy Spirit's Brandon Bower (145), Egg Harbor Township's James Ingersol (160) and Atlantic City's Joe Cutugno (160) were all eliminated from contention on Saturday.
