WILDWOOD – The atmosphere was festive even prior to the game. Following it, the party really began.

Wildwood High School girls basketball coach Dave Troiano won the 600th game of his career Tuesday night as his Lady Warriors raced past Cape May Tech, 60-46, after leading by 20 points at halftime.

Troiano, in his 35th season as coach, improved to 600-290 for his career.

A large crowd, which included many of his former players and the parents of former players, was on hand to witness the milestone victory.

Recent career 1,000-point scorer Jessica Freeman tallied a game-high 21 points and Serena Seigjo added 12 points to pace Wildwood (12-5) in the win.

Troiano was presented a commemorative ball by Wildwood High School Chris Armstrong to mark the occasion. The coach also thanked his players and the team’s fans during a short speech in the gym following the game.

A reception for Troiano was held in the school cafeteria after the game.

Troiano is the all-time wins leader among South Jersey high school girls basketball coaches.
