sp The state Group III championship girls basketball game between Ocean City and Jefferson Township will be played Sunday at 2 p.m., according to information released by the NJSIAA on Friday.

The game will be the second of the four public school girls championship games at Pine Belt Arena, a 3,200-seat facility located on the campus of Toms River North High School. Admission to the game is $5 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens.

The contest will be broadcast live on 98.7 FM radio, with a live Internet video stream available at www.capemaycountysports.com.

The Ocean City-Jefferson game will be the second of four state title games at Pine Belt Arena that day, following the Group I final between Bloomfield Tech and Pt. Pleasant Beach at noon. The Group IV final between Rancocas Valley and Paterson Eastside is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the Group II final featuring Willingboro and Shabazz tipping off at 6 p.m.

South Jersey champion Ocean City (25-4) topped Central Jersey winner Freehold, 35-26, in the state semifinal game earlier this week to land in the title game. Jefferson (23-7), the North Jersey I champ, beat North Jersey II winner Cranford, 50-40, in the other state semifinal.

Ocean City has never won a state title in girls basketball. The Raiders have appeared in the title game twice, losing in both 1979 and 2008.
