MT's Maddie Anagnou recently scored her 200th career goal
Check off yet another milestone for Maddie Anagnou.

Middle Township High School’s all-time leading goal scorer in field hockey and school record-holder in six swimming events became the third girls lacrosse player to reach 200 career goals earlier this week.

Anagnou scored twice as unbeaten Middle Township survived an upset bid by Oakcrest, 15-13, Monday afternoon. Her second goal was the 200th of her career.

Anagnou went on to add two goals in Tuesday’s 26-6 win over Our Lady of Mercy Academy. She now has 202 career goals and is within striking distance of surpassing 2011 graduate Kelsey McCusker’s total of 214 career goals for second place all-time in program history. Another 2011 graduate, Grace Adelizzi, is the program’s all-time leading scorer with 261 goals.

Middle improved to 12-0 on the season after Tuesday’s win over the Villagers and remains solidly in first place in the Cape-Atlantic League, holding a two-game edge in the loss column over second place Lower Cape May.

Freshman Bridget Ruskey continues to rack up the goals for the Lady Panthers. Her seven tallies in Tuesday’s win over OLMA left her with an amazing 64 through the first 12 games of her high school career. Jenna Herlihy, who scored five times against OLMA, is second on the team with 41 goals, followed by Anagnou’s 36. Anagnou is also the team leader in assists this season with 30, followed by Allison Hunter (27) and Julianna Riggitano (25).

Late last week, Middle pulled away from rival Lower Cape May, 18-8, in the second half in a meeting of the top two teams in the CAL. The Lady Panthers outscored Lower 7-1 after the break after leading 11-7 following the first half.

Middle is scheduled to play at Millville Thursday (May 1).
